Title III Immigrant Newcomer Counselor works collaboratively with immigrant newcomer students and their families, teachers, administrators and other staff to provide enhanced and supplemental opportunities to immigrant children and youth and ensure that students meet the same challenging grade level and graduation standards as all students. 

What is considered a Newcomer student? 
A student is considered a newcomer when:
-They are born outside of the United States
-Have less than 3 years living in the U.S.
-Are English Language Learners 

What does this mean?
Newcomer students whose first school experience in the United States is in high school may remain in school until they are 21 years old or a 5th year option to meet graduation requirements.
